Hear me now: We have not dropped a ball by releasing Jack Smith.
He was and is a very decent and capable footballer but is, sadly, very limited when it comes to defending.
As well as being rather slow he has the remarkable ability of being able to jump even lower than my good self.
On several occasions last season he got absolutely licked for pace when he got near the half way line, in fact I think he is still pulling his pants up now from some of the roastings he got. And he was deffo targetted as a weak link on the back post when the ball was being knocked in from the other flank.
Big Kev is probably better, for my money.
