Gurney was a useless cunt of the highest order. Pure shit in a Town shirt. One of my most hated players ever to play for Town.

Someone still holds a grudge from Cheltenham don't they.

Gurney was a lot better for Town (aside from being a cunt) than many other players we have had.

For example, I give you...................... David Peach

I liked him...the debacle at Cheltenham left its mark.
Seemed to perform well against the harder/better teams.

I liked Gurney, and if what I heard was true then that incident at Cheltenham wasn't one way traffic. Some fans seem to think they say what they like to players, but can't take any back.

I always liked Gurney as a player. Bit of skill, good right foot, decent freekick on him and a fucking mean streak.

I was right behind the fans who supposedly told him they were going to burn his house down and it simply didn't happen. It was a classic case of make the aggressor the victim - pure PR. He got pissy when people sang "where's our captain gone" and gave out loads and then received a load back.
I do hold a grudge against him and Heywood for 'Nam but I genuinely believe he was generally a useless cunt for us. The most positionally inept player I've seen in a red shirt, althuogh either Rose or O'Brien could give him a run for his money.

Gurney wasn't the best of players but at least he played with some passion which is a lot more than most of his team mates managed at certain times.

As a fullback he was a diaster, he just dived in everytime, wingers must have loved him - if their legs were still attached.

Indeed. Wonderful free-kick & celebration afterwards vs Leeds in the cup.

Who remembers Leigh Mills? He didnt actually ever play for Swindon but was a player here...He started his career as a youth team player at Swindon Town but was signed by Tottenham Hotspur as a 16-year-old in 2004 before he had made a single league appearance for the Robins.[1]

Mills joined Brentford in a season-long loan deal on 17 June 2008.[2] However on 8 August he was recalled by Tottenham and joined Gillingham on loan, subsequently extended from one month to five. [3][4][5] Mills made his Gillingham and professional debut in a 1-0 home defeat against Luton Town on 16 August. [6], the loan ended on 1st January, 2009. Then in February Mills was released from his contract.[7]

In mid 2007 Leigh married and decided to retire from professional football much later in 2009.

In July 2010, Mills signed for his hometown club Winchester City on a free transfer.[

Wasn't the rumour always that Gurney had more passion than certain team mates?
