It's certainly the only ground where I've seen the Town players given a guard of honour by our opposing team. It was the next game after we'd sealed the 85-86 Div 4 title at Mansfield..........just looked that game up out of interest, and I note that Bobby Barnes and Gary Johnson were in the Aldershot team that night.

I remember that night well, a lovely touch by Aldershot, and IIRC they played Queen, "We are the champions" for us too on a warm early summers evening.

You have an impressive memory. I remember the sunshine and some good banter with the Aldershot fans through a big wire fence behind the goal.

Meanwhile Barry Corr has signed a pre-contract agreement to join Luggy at Southend once their embargo is lifted.

Hope he doesn't try to help lifting anything as his back is sure to go.

Can't believe he's 29 where has the time gone.

Hope he does well there next season.  He deserves a couple of years of playing regular football.

That squad is going to look a LOT like the squad we had when Sturrock got us promoted if he carries on the way he's going. This means Southend should do ok next year methinks.

Stevenage Borough have to have a youth set-up now that they're a Football League club - and Jimmy Gilligan is heading up the whole shabang.

And it's probably been mentioned before, but so is Easton.
