I've long been of the opinion teams need to start walking off every time when it comes to racist abuse. And refs need to be stopping games when its brought to their attention.
Clubs also need to having perpetrators arrested rather than just ejected from the game. Hope this fuckwit is caught quickly by the cops but it'd be a lot easier to have them up in front of the beak & banned from games for life if the plod already had their arrest record.

Racist abuse is the actions of a moron. I remember how bad it was as recent as the 90s.

The abuse Chris Kamara got while at Swindon from opposition fans was incredible, at the time he was one of probably less than 2 or 3 black players in Division 3 at most and only about 20 in the entire league. Kammy always laughed it off but games vs Shitty and Rovers etc would always have cries of hundreds of fans in unison doing the monkey calls. I had hoped that sort of thing had subsided totally by now but apparently not, it seems to be very popular accross eastern europe again with Bulgaria, Russia, Ukraine, Greece and Turkey some of the worst with abuse in Sweden, Spain and Italy also rising.

Pretty funny that Bristolians see their City as a left wing hippie eutopia and that it was that way vs the Bristol clubs.

I remember Ricky Otto for Southend getting it bad, he looked quite rightly pissed off. Bad times.

Obviously not speaking of racial abuse but I can't recall anyone coming back to Swindon and not getting stick. I remember Austin getting applause after the game and Johnny Inniesta getting a good hand when substituted by Gillighmam but not much else. Only possible exception was Chris Kamara when he was playing for Stoke at the Victoria Ground. Any ideas?

Colin Calderwood got a rapturous reception when we played Spurs at White Hart Lane in the PL season to the point where he was not exactly embarrassed but conscious of the fact that he was a Spurs player and as such, whilst acknowledging the fans, shouldn't react too enthusiastically (unlike Darren Bullock when we played Huddersfield in the last game of the season a few years later)
Must admit, i don't remember what reaction he got at the home game but it would definitely been a very positive one.

Most players who served Swindon well and gave everything they had get a warm reception from Town fans and thats always been the case that I can remember, its the bit part players, the ones who thinkg they are bigger than they actually are that get a bad rap or ones who left under a cloud.
Which is fully understandable really.
