Could be an emotional day on Saturday with both sides honouring this legend as well as the solidarity for the Darby Rimmer Foundation

Sad news re Peter Downsborough.
Ironically one of his finest performances was for Bradford at Swindon on a miserable Tuesday night in 1977/78. They were probably the worst team at the county ground that season and it was no surprise that they were relegated. We pounded them all game but he pulled off a succession of brave saves and they somehow nicked a 1-0 win which was, I think, their only away win of the season.
He got a wonderful ovation from the Town End as he came out at the start of the second half which hopefully made up a bit for his rather sour departure from Swindon in 73.
The headline in the Bradford paper the next evening read "Downsborough Gets Hero's Reception".

I’ve seen them all from Tony Hicks onwards and he was the finest keeper of the lot.
Strangely, I’ve had a friend staying who is an Arsenal fan and we were both at Wembley that day and it was only Saturday when I YouTubed the game. Some of his saves that day were outstanding.
Sad day.

I am one of those who saw Peter play. His role in the League Cup win is often overlooked, whilst Sir Don's (great) goals are repeatedly replayed. Without Peter's display of huge courage and skill, we would have got nowhere near the cup. He was truly a great in our history, and how sad that he left the County Ground under a bit of a cloud. It was so good to see him with the others at the 50th celebration in March.

iirc his contribution was mentioned at the Trust celebration. Can't remember which '69 player said Downsborough was his motm.

Peter did the 50th Anniversary Q&A after the Port Vale game and was in decent form. Shook all the hands and signed all the autographs.

Not everyone will have seen this video the club posted of his performance at Wembley. What a dirty bastard Bobby Gould was. https://www.facebook.com/SwindonTownFootballClub/videos/392090854821112/?t=67

Peter Downsborough displayed the type of qualities that every one should aim for and to be. He was one of the many heroes that I had and helped me believe every thing in life is possibly with hard work and exceptional effort God bless you Peter Thank you for helping to make my dreams come true especially in 1969 RIP Peter COYMRs
