Apparently (I didn't watch it) Alzate got rave reviews on his Premier debut yesterday and was voted MoM.

I watched it to see how SA was shaping up. Brighton were poor, Newcastle were terrible. So being semi competent was enough to stand out. From that viewpoint, I wouldn't read too much into it. |

Brighton fans seem to disagree with you. Alzate - 9 - Brilliant debut, comfortable in a number of positions. A star in the making MOTM
Alzate - 9 - MOM
Alzate and Propper were very good everyone else were alright
Alzate. 8 MOM. - wish he’d screamed for it when maupay fluffed in the first half. Loved his running with the ball
Alzate 8 Good game very impressive.
Alzate 8.5 Very confident on the ball, technically very astute.

I watched the first half only but thought Brighton looked a decent side. You were right about Newcastle though, absolutely woeful. I had cash on Alzate to score at any time, was gutted when his header was (rightly) ruled out for offside. Personally I thought he looked good. Was playing in a much more advanced role and actually looked more dangerous than Maupay. He should go on to have a decent career. |
