We must have been doing very fucking well if this is the result of 20 years of decline.

Top of the league and that's where the decline for the next 20 years started. We slid down the table, Chris Hay got sent off and lost his form, the Stevenage defeat and everyone turned on McMahon by the end of the season.
Sent from my HTC One M9
I think it was losing the MBoro game in November 97, that started our decline

We're not even very good at being in decline. Pathetic.

Was that David Thompsons debut? Always remember him being a good player but we went downhill went he came into the side. Also, debut (and a goal) for George Ndah right?

West Ham away, Barnsley home, two consecutive games. He had an absolute stormer in both and undoubtedly won us 6 points. I personally couldn't stand him though and will never forgive him for Peterborough away.
Was the Barnsley game 1-0 to us? Of so, he was magnificent that day. Magnificent.

Yes. I liked George, we paid a fair wedge for his services but sold at a prophett. I had hopes for a Kevin Watson/ Thompson midfield axis, but not to be. It's the hope that gets you.

Yes it was - and he was. But for every Barnsley there was a Peterborough. For every West Ham, there was a Torquay. Great shot stopper, terrible at everything else.

Rumours on Orient's board that Embleton may get their Head Coach job, as well as having some deals already tied up for ex-Swindon players.

I see what you did there but Colin preceded him by around 20 years. Although, coincidently, Colin's middle name was also "George". Whereas George's middle name was "Ehialimolisa".

That Posh game was a cracker, totally ruined by Hammond's duff clearance. And on TV to boot (or not).

Blimey, haven't they suffered enough?

I still blame Hazard for passing it back to him rather than going forward. The pitch was very bobbly that day and was asking for trouble! Hoddle was amazing in that game tho.
