Paynter's a good example to any player wanting to leave that the grass isn't always green on the other side. I bet he wishes he could turn back the clock and sign a new contract with us.

I doubt it, Leeds paid him £1m over three years, that's gotta soften the footballing blow.

No thank you, not now, his leaving was as shitty as Austin leaving us, they both wanted to go and didn't want to stay at Swindon, he has burnt his bridges.

Exactly. I am sure Paynter knew, when he signed for Leeds, that he was going to be no more than a well paid squad player. I have no problems with a player grabbing what money he can out of his career.

Paynter had one outstanding season (or 3/4 of it, anyway) and hopefully he's secured his family's financial future on the back of it. Good luck to him, but I wouldn't want him in Town colours again.

we let Paynters contract run out. Austin handed in a transfer request. Not the same.
