Ifill had everything in him to be a top defender, it was only his concentration that let him down. The amount of times he used to let forwards get goal side of him was frightening. Positionally inept but I had a lot of time for him, nice guy too!
The amount of times he let the ball bounce instead of putting his head through it was scary.

sol Davis was a solid full back and a decent one really barring the odd mad moment.
For someone with such poor abilty on the ball that Ifil had(awful distribution and touch) he carved out a decent career really.
Pace made him the player he was.

Not belittling his issues , but he's not exactly flavour of the month with the H&W faithful is he:

My abiding memories of Sol Davis in a Swindon shirt would be when he went through Rodney Jack like a train during the 99/00 season against Crewe. It was a fantastically horrendous tackle right below the Nationwide stand which ended up in Sol being sent off.

Secondly was a match against Bristol City at the CG when he karate kicked Scott Murray in the head then went down rolling on the ground acting injured to spare getting sent off. I believe he only got a yellow card.

Does it say something when my memories of Sol Davis appear to be violent tackles?

He kept a young Defoe in his pocket too.

I'd forgotten that - that was a fantastic performance.

I remember him steaming into Craig Bellamy vs Coventry on the half way line too.

Sounds nasty but I'm not sure he "saved his life" exactly.

Spoke to Dave Hockaday yesterday, seems like he is loving it at Forest Green and spoke very highly of Jonathan Smith, said they tried their best to keep him there back in his green days.

Hope he gets it, always liked Amankwaah. Shame injury is ruining his spell at Burton aswell.

He's too good to be playing at Burton. We should have kept him.

Would that be the Burton that sit a place above us in the table?

I would bet my house on us finishing above Burton.
