Latest player that looks to be close to a confirmed exit is our very own Sammy Igoe.

In almost an identical repeat of the farcical handling of the Grant Smith situation the player now finds himself the subject of interest of four other clubs including Barnsley and Rotherham.

I did suspect that Harford may have a look at Igoe, he rates him highly and recommended him to King in the first place.

Only a matter of time before interest will turn into a concrete offer and in the absence of anyone bothering at the club to make an improved offer he’ll be off.

What a fiasco all over again.  The club have offered contracts that reportedly not one player is happy with, many having said so publicly and no doubt agents being agents have probably stated privately to the club on numerous occasions.  Yet Sandy Gray sits there and waits amidst growing interest for them to accept an inadequate offer.

The player has the luxury of a deal to fall back on a contract and can negotiate away with interested parties safe in the knowledge that if nothing better arises they’ll accept what’s on the table.

Igoe is another player that has expressed a desire to stay for over 12 months now and has stated weeks ago that he wanted an extra year on the contract on offer.  I don’t think there is any question over a desire to stay but I would lay odds on ala Grant Smith there has been no re-negotiation and won’t be until the player is on the verge of departing.

All the while the pain in Spain can’t do anything until these players commit or walk.  Clearly they are all using the time to at least look at what’s on offer elsewhere and who can blame them?

Igoe can fuck off anyway hes had a bad season but i wish the board would fuck off to. they seem to be making a complete mess of the contract situation. Smith said he had heard nothing from the club since the final game of the season and i wonder if that has been the case with the others as well?

its stupid that they're leaving it this long for a decision. i thought king set a deadline of 16th may for the out of contract players? so far only heywood has been decent enough to say he's definatly going.

like dazza said, while all this waiting around is going on king cant bring in any new players, & the ones he's after like shakes & tierney are now talking to other clubs. we could end up with nothing!

I kinda agree with Rich, although I wouldn't have put it quite so strongly.  The truth is Igoe had a great start to his career here but ever since Christmas time 2003 I think his form has been constantly poor.  Lets get rid and hope we can get some experience in the middle of the park.  Cheerio the dwarf brothers it was fun for a while.

The club have created a rod for their own backs.

Clearly none of the players are going to accept what's on the table if a better deal comes in from elsewhere.  Let's face it by all accounts who can blame anyone for accepting what may be a reduced offer and in some cases on shorter contracts that the one they have just completed?

The deal on the table has given them a safety net to fall back should nothing turn up.  All the while other clubs are already snapping up the cream of out of contract talent while we wait on answers.

Previous years Devlin & King had contracts long since sorted out with perhaps last year being a little later with the PO's.  Only player to ever hold out for so long being Tommy Mooney who was given about a week to sign or walk.

Basically the club don't realise that players are quite happy to walk away.

We are not likely to keep Smith
We are not likely to keep Igoe
Parkin is not likely to sign a new contract so SELL NOW! (its for the best)

And Duke's only other offer is Darlington. If they had ANY sense they would offer Smith his wage + Duke's for two years NOW!!!!

He wouldn't accept it anyway. Gordan Smith is a prize twat.

Igoe can be superb on his day but doesn't seem to do it too often these days though and I'm not convinced he's really worth a two year deal.

I think it's safe to say that all our out of contract players are leaving, I hope they confirm their intentions soon though so we know how much much of the budget is left and can get going with the new signings.

The plain fact is that we aren't able at the moment to retain or collect a playing squad that is likely to be competitive in this division.

If King can manage to use the remnants and cast offs and kids thta he'll have next season to keep us up he'll be doing very well.

 Shame but there it is.

You're spot on Dazzza, its a bloody farce....

All our out of contract players know if they cant get a better deal else where they have something to fall back on here

Offer them the contract, give them a few weeks to sign it...if they dont sign rip it up....go looking for a player who will sign the contract because he wants to, not because its his back up plan
