Watkins expecting summer surge for season tickets

TOWN chief executive Nick Watkins believes the excitement of a summer of new faces at the County Ground will play a major part in getting season ticket holders signed up for the 2009/10 campaign.

I like the way the article is backed up with absolutely no evidence that Watkins is expecting a summer surge for season tickets!

All he says is that if we sign some good players then more people arel ikely to buy season tickets!

Unless its Tevez, I can't see a new signing convincing too many people to pay £400 for a season ticket.

It's up to the individual. I buy a season ticket because I support Swindon (not the red side of Manchester), I guess you won't be alone though  Embarrassed

Exactly. Realistically what player could we buy that would make loads of people go "I wasn't going to spend that £400 on a season ticket but now I will"?

But as r4e pointed out, Watkins never said anything of the sort, that's all been added in by the Adver sub-eds. All Watkins said was the standard "changes over the summer ... creates a real buzz around the place ... real excitement about next season" which is standard chief exec in close season trying to talk up sense of excitement in attempt to boost season ticket sales stuff. The "player signings will directly affect season ticket sales as influx of lower league journeymen lead to box office rush" rubbish has just been added in by the Adver

I think maybe splashing out on wages and keeping your best player would make people realise we meant buisness..

True DRS...but until we get a club that stops selling our assets at the first oportunity we wont encourage fans to buy season tickets in waves...Peterboro have shown lately that keeping hold of your best players brings success...and obviously bigger crowds.

I dont think Watkins needs to worry about it really?

Loads of clubs will bring big followings next season and Im sure the armchair brigade will be out for the 4 or 5 big teams in the league.
