We will tighten our budget - Watkins

TOWN chief executive Nick Watkins insists a much tighter rein will be kept on the County Ground purse strings next season, believing that success can still be achieved on a stringent budget.

"there is still a legacy of certain players who are still with us for another season who are quite expensive". N. Watkins

Ifil i'd imagine. Mcgovern and paynter will be on a fair whack too, seeing as their contracts were funded with the dodgy portugeezers 'money'

Judging by the MM budget comments, bet Casal is too.

I hate our fans. Some of those comments are embarassing. If they were running our club, we;d be going the way of Luton within 2 months

Its always the nobs that post first too, the more reasonable posters obviously have lives/jobs rather than hanging around on the site waiting to post their crap.

If we do sell Cox as expected and we have a smaller transfer budget than last season then I think people have a right to be aggrieved.

The wage budget going down makes sense and isn't an issue, in fact I'd rather have less players with more quality, like our play-off season in this division.

My guess would be the budget has been set assuming Cox stays, and it will evolve, If/when he goes onto a different model.

But everyone expects Cox to go. I'm not getting my knickers in a twist over this non-story but it's a bit of a silly thing to say to fans, especially when you're still trying to sell season tickets.

I personally think we'll do a lot better next season, with or without Cox and with a smaller budget.

This is an even bigger non story, although there does seem to be a quiet confidence this year.

Yoyr spot on Reevesy its all about balancing the books,we had a huge squad last year and it certainly needs trimming, which DW seems to have done. Now we need quality not quantity imo.

Not only quality but more heart and soul. I reckon twice as much heart and three times as much soul shared throughout a much smaller squad and we'd be rinsing out the moves.

Budgets don't mean everything in this league anyway. Just look at Scunthorpe a few years back and indeed even now. And also look at Leeds who have still failed to go up on a huge budget.

Thick as shit on that adver site. Surely simple math will explain to them that if the budget is the same for 22 players as it was for 30 then that means we could in effect be offering a higher wage.

I agree, we'll do OK if we give a little bit of heart and soul. give a little bit of love to grow.
