Greer: Why shouldn't we be in the play-offs?

WITH Norwich, Southampton and Charlton dropping down to League One next season, Town defender Gordon Greer could be forgiven for thinking the division will not get any easier.

We get the same talk every year, and this year we nearly went down. Sometimes I wish the players would just play the game and stop spouting crap to the fans. There are already people on the Adver site saying they fully expect play-offs because Wilson slipped it into a conversaion once...

I dont know what is worse.

The players coming out with this crap or the fans that believe it.

I know its early days but we'll lose Cox, the leagues best player so we wont even do better than this season.

On another note Mr. R4E tell Johnos brother he's a fucking idiot. His player ratings for the season in the adver were worse than the usual match day ones.

Brez gets a 7 for the season and Paynter gets 6 for 'being average'

The worst thing is even thinking about it...we're in something called the close season, it's a time to enjoy the fact there is no football and do other stuff....then start to think about prospects when the players get back for pre-season training. Chill out DV.

You lot are miserable cunts. Football is all about high hopes getting carried away and predicting stupid things. I love this time of year when players are linked left right and centre and watching clips of casal thinking he is next carlos only to find he is as much use as my 3rd nipple. Cheer up u twats

Think league 1 is getting tougher & tougher each year with these bigger clubs being relegated ..... man city , sheff wed , forest , leeds , leicester in recent years and now the likes of norwich , southampton & charlton coming down .

I agree, it happened with the Championship and is now obvious in League 1 as well. It started off with the occasional one big club in League 1, next season we'll have four of them and that can only increase in the future. All of which equals money from the Premier League filtering down the league pyramid which can only be a good thing.

I agree with that arriba mainly because i dont think we will concede nearly as many as last year and think wilson will target a goalscoring midfielder.

Indeed.

Right now with the squad we have we wont make the play offs.

Of course we still have the whole summer ahead and replacing 32 goals wont be easy.

We don't need to replace the 32 goals though, the bigger problem is not conceding as many - if we concede less we won't have to score as many.

If we can get a half decent defence then we might not need to replace 32 goals.

The back five this season made it like struggling in quicksand.

Swindon have proved through  some of their performances this season (tranmere at home, Franchise at home etc) that we are capable of reaching the playoffs. being capable is totally different to actually DOING it, which is where we seem to struggle. the ability is all there, the problem is how its executed and the fact that the players seem to cave when the pressure is on.
