we payed for your haaaaaats,
what a waste of council tax,
we payed for your hats!

to the police that would of prevented us from running on the pitch.

That's been sung plenty of times before, but I agree it's a good'un.

I'm also a fan of the "What's it like to have no Cox?" from the Northampton(?) game!

Something they could probably answer now.

What? They repeated the same line 3 times! It's a great tune to sing so I joined in a bit, but the lyrics need a lot of work before it can be considered a good chant. Fair play to people for keeping it going though. I remember when we used to sing "Andy King's Barmy Army" for seemingly endless periods of time in the playoff season!

End of the day, he has had a great season. 99% certain he's moving on, so a bit of respect and love from the crowd towards Cox was long overdue.

Well done Simon. I may not agree with everything you are, but you certainly deserved a send off!

http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2009/may/03/football-chants-manchester-united

Observer Sport Monthly article on football chants.

"Neville Neville, your future's immense,
Nevile Neville, you play in defence,
Neville Neville, like Jacko you're bad,
Neville Neville, is the name of your dad"

To the tune of "Rebel Rebel"

Did raise a smile with me, although I think it would have been even more inspired if he'd managed to work in something about being a "Wife Beater" as well.
