The arm doesn't necessarily have to be straight, whatever position that the arm is in when it starts to go round and over,it must stay in the position thorughout until the ball is released. So the elbow cannot straighten or bend more than the degree of bend it has at the start of the action.

That being said there is a % leway that players get if they have dodgy arms,like murali for which straightening his arm is a physical impossibility.

I used to watch cricket a fair bit but have gone completely off it, I did however watch those highlights too Phil and I think you are talking about Malinga (Sri Lankan).

I asked my brother the same question and apparently his action hasn't been questioned. I think it's because his bowling arm is supposedly straight, so it's perfectly legal.

Yes that was the one. seemed to me that it was straight out of baseball, but I guess if the opposition didn't complain ?

No, it seems they are still playing. That's astonishing given the weather here, and I'm probably only 6 miles away! It'd be nice to see us up the run rate just a tad
