As many of you who have now seen The Damned United, you will be aware that Peter Taylor played a major (and often overlooked) part in the success of Derby and Forest. At Forest they have started a petition to get a stand named after Taylor, which I happen to think is a good idea. If you agree, click the link and sign the petition, if you don't then don't. Simple. Books alright Larwood....hardly great literature, but a fun read if you were around in the early 70's. |

Because of all the stuff about Brian Clough I read 'Provided You Don't Kiss Me: 20 Years with Brian Clough' by Duncan Hamilton.
I dont really read books, but I got through that one in about 2 weeks.
As for the Damned United, I couldnt read the book because it would do my head in wondering which bits were real and which were made up! The film was OK.

People should really look no further than Clough's autobiography. It probably leaves questions unanswered for supporters of clubs heavily linked to Clough but for the rest of us it's really good. Much better than Duncan Hamilton's book (although I thought it was alright).
As far as the stand is concerned - probably deserved as he was clearly a favourite and a coach but why didn't they seriously push this campaign before all of this Clough hysteria restarted?

I enjoyed Provided you don't kiss me. Clearly the man was a genius but Hamilton was open and honest about his slow decline with alcohol which was interesting to read. |
