At the last election a lot of Labour supporters, left of centre and liberal minded people, refused to vote Labour because of the Iraq war. Many simply stayed at home.Although Blair has gone, those same people aren't likely to return or to vote Labour and we may see the lowest turnout in General Election history.

Agreed though the revelations in tomorrow's papers reveals how it's very difficult to see how Gordon Brown can survive this. To me this seems a Labour version of Thatchers downfall - short but sweet

That's a fairly damning judgement on the state of British democracy.

I think we all knew the 'historic third term' was going to end in tears, just like the 'historic fourth term' did for the Tories. After a decade, complacency sets in and wankers like Ed Balls start thinking the rules don't apply.
It's interesting that, during the last 30 years, we have become serial re-electors. Maybe we need to stop. Frankly, if you can't get your ideas/bills through Parliament within 4 or 5 years of gaining power, they're probably not worth getting through anyway.
I'm hoping the 2010 General Election will produce a hung parliament. That will mix things up a bit.

Because one of the smears / lies was, allegedly, that it's Cameron's fault for not getting treatment for STD that lead to Ivan being disabled Which the Sun deeply hinted here: David Cameron’s wife — grieving over the tragic death of her little boy Ivan — has had to discover that Brown’s henchmen were plotting to spread vile untruths about her husband’s health. http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/columnists/fergus_shanahan/article2375497.eceIt seems a prominent Labour MP doesn't agree with you: http://www.tomharris.org.uk/2009/04/12/so-what-did-i-miss/

I don't really get the big deal with the "smear emails" or whatever the headlines said (not that I've caught much news over the last week or two). In fact smearing people sounds quite fun, taken literally or otherwise.
Gordon Brown doesn't have a glass eye, he just uses it as an excuse so he can stare at little girls.
Before David Cameron's career as a politician took off he used to sell the massive amounts of excess grease coming off his body to macdonalds for them to deepfry their fries.
Yeovil Red doesn't get what the fuss is about which just shows how out of touch he is with the modern electorate.

The country is fucked ... it doesn't matter who is in government, they are all the same, why vote at all. Just leave Britain to the immigrants and queers.

I agree with dell. Or at least that people with that attitude should follow through with his suggestion.
