Author Topic: Best post-premier league XI  (Read 4553 times)

This was put to me the other day and is good fun.  The problem with favourite all-time XIs is that they are invariably an amalgamation of the 69 and 93 teams.  So try this one.  Your favourite XI of players who have joined the town since our premier league relegation.  This means anyone appearing in the premier league and stayed on (Digby, Horlock, Fjortoft, Taylor etc) are ineligable.  No loans allowed - they would make up the majority of the side.

Took me a while but I came up with this:

GK: Mildenhall
DR: Culverhouse
DC: Heywood
DC: Reeves
DL: Davis

MR: Walters
MC: Leitch
MC: Woan
ML: Ndah

CF: Parkin
CF: Cox

Subs: Allison, Gurney, Howard, Mooney, Evans (GK).

We haven't been that good for the past 15 years have we?

This has stumped me as I usually just list the 1992/93 squad + a couple of others as my all-time favourite team!

I dont think that side looks to bad to be honest.

Mildenhall is a decent L1 keeper (apart from when facing us, nice one Mildy!!)

Culverhouse although past his best was very good for us

Heywood and Reeves let the side down

Sol Davis did alright for himself.

Mark Walter even now would tear L1 full backs apart I expect, he was class.

Leitch was a decent enough battler in the middle and Woan was quality on the ball

Ndah was decent when he wasnt injured.

Cox & Parkin good strikers but the likes of The Chief and Iffy (deserves a mention, even if as a manager he wasnt brilliant] scored goals in the Championship - the other two didnt.

I'd say that side would beat our current side.

What a fucking shite defence that is too - bar Culverhouse.

Reeves? The man was dreadful and only looked better as we slid down the division until he reached his level - and he was about the best of the lot - see M. Seagraves, M. Robinson.

We haven't been able to defend for 15 years have we?

GK: Steve Mildenhall

DL: Sol Davis
DR: Ian Culverhouse

MC: Scott Leitch
MC: Danny Invincibile
MC: Ian Woan
MC: Mark Walters
MC: Stefani Miglioranzi

SC: Simon Cox
SC: Wayne Allison
SC: George Ndah

I've decided our defenders are so bad we shall play as few of them as possible

Infact, looking at the defenders we have had you'd be better off playing Miglioranzi there. He always did alright when called on.

no Parkin?

Tricky, Allison and Ndah both did well for us in Division One, so I wanted to pick them both. Was tempted to play 4 up front for a laugh. Looking back now, we've had a lot of good strikers and not much at the back.

i don't think there's 11 players since 2002 (that's as far back as i can remmber) that i'd put in a side.

migs would be the player i built my side around. i'd also make him bionic
