Gmtv are reporting this also so not sure if it's an April fool...

That would be one hell of a backfiring April fools joke, because BBC would have to have sought Ashley's approval. I don't think the fans would take lightly to it Smiley

I go passed the ground en route to the station - I doubt they'll be jubliant ala Keegan because they really are in trouble. Good move by Ashley - get relegated under Shearer "not even he could turn things around".

Admittedly before I moved up here I used to dislike the stereotypical Newcastle fan but they're no different than any other football fan.

They're (as yeovil so delicately put it) jizzing all over the airwaves on 5Live again this morning. No wonder they're delusional when the national media insist on treating every successive minor twitch in their ongoing freak show as major national news - dedicating an hour-long phone-in on a national radio show's prime morning slot does give the impression that this is a massive event. Where was our hour-long phone in when Malpas was appointed? Eh? Eh? We're just as delusional as Newcastle fans and we pay our licence fees!

I quite like Newcastle. I would certainly rather see teams like Fulham or Wigan go down than Newcastle.

If it's true it's a win-win for Shearer.

Keep them up and deification (nb not defacation) is even more assured

If they get relegated none of the blame will stick to him and he'll be a hero for stepping into the breach.

What has Swindon and Newcastle got in common?

They both won their last major trophy in 1969.

'Nuff said !!

Dont know if this is an april fool or not, if it isn't top work from Accy to the miserable sod.

Accrington Stanley have offered former Premier League referee Jeff Winter the role of stadium development manager, after he recently criticised the facilities at their ground. (Accrington official website)

Start of the unable to pay for the new stadium fallout, grass isn't always greener!

Their relegation from the premiership after the building of that stadium has been a disaster.

And having Rupert Lowe as Chairman hasn't helped either.

Thank God the rumours about him coming here wasn't true.

Its bad news for Swindon as well as it means there is a good chance it will be 3 big clubs dropping down to League 1 next season which will make promotion even harder. Sure they've got financial issues, but there is no way Swindon can compete long term with clubs that get 20k plus crowds week in week out.
