When I first did a check I had well over a 1000, it depends if it counts cookies as spyware 'cos some of them do and you can have hundreds of them. First time I ran microsoft anti-spyware it came up with loads too.

They are essentially stored websites, images etc. It is good practice to clear it out regularly.

Yeah you should be fine to delete those, I usually delete my temp files every week.
