If thats the case if we are to lose him hopefully we'll benefit from a bidding war......if Maynard went to City for 2/3 million then we should be looking for at least that now even with the recession hitting. Cox should and hopefully will be our biggest ever transfer fee received.

Good shout, Glos robin. One or two cunts waded into me a few months back for daring to suggest that Cox is worth at least a couple of million. Most were saying that he's worth 500 - 750k at best, the pricks.

The credit crunch means fuck-all to the premier league sides at the moment and Sky will be literally fucking millions into them again soon, so the likes of Fullham, Everton and Boro (if they stay up) and possibly Sunderland, Stoke, Hull etc will be looking for promising and cheap(ish) prospects like Cox to get them 15+ goals rather than spend megga bucks on foreigners or half-proven journeymen. Also the newbies to the prem next season will all be looking for hot prospects.

Fitton and the board ain't going to let him go for fuck all after the season he's had with us.

I'm still surprised that one of the teams involved in the relegation battle in the Premier League didn't take a punt on him in the transfer window for a couple of million. Sure he'd be a risk, but for that kind of money I reckon it would have been worth it as his goals could have made the difference.

I don't see the point in us letting him go for a million in the summer, especially as Reading will take a chunk of it. Even if he doesn't sign a new contract we could still offload him on the cheap in January unless we're at the top and chasing promotion.

The second best case scenario for Cox (behind him staying with us) would be that he does a Mildenhall and signs a new contract with us and then we sell him. Fitton seems to think he's a good young professional so I don't think him signing a new deal is completely out of the question.

at least if we are to lose him, he's banging the goals in. Every goal he gets adds another bit in to his price tag - I wouldn;t mind selling him if, as the others have said, we get 1.5 mill or more. You could rebuild the whole team for a mill.
