spencer is spot on (as usual) with his assessment of the support.
as for cox's offside goal, my old man was sat dead in line with it and said it was clearly offside. you only have to look at cox's finish to see that he thought he was offside as well...
He admitted he knew he was offside in the post-match interview and said he'd only tried that flick because he knew he was off. If he'd thought he was on, he'd have tried to turn and slam it home. Haven't seen the highlights myself but from where I was sat, we thought there were 3 Town players offside - "offside in depth" as we called it at the time

Is that the DV seal of approval on my matchday comment? I'm honoured. Honestly not being sarcy there either.
Just good to read a fresh opinion... Every week you get the same people, some who apply the same line of thought to every game and some who have made their mind up on a player and dont change that no matter what said player does. Also, with you having not been a regular for a long time then your probably less biased than someone who goes every week. Almost neutral like.

I sat there in about 1996/97 I think.
Is there a blue plaque there now saying so? Think there should be

I agree with you spence, but I am not a chanter, is that wrong? I shout encouragment and clap along etc. but don't join in with the organised singing because I like to concentrate and study the game if you like. It tends to be different away from home, but at home I would rather watch the game and enjoy it that way. If I intended to join in with the singing I would probably sit in the Townend.
Are we saying that it should be prerequisite that you should join in with the chanting if you are to be proper fan? Not having a dig, just interested in what everyone thinks that is all.
No of course it isnt. But weve got to the stage where a stand with 3500 people in it and when we get a corner it might as well be 50 fans in the south stand. A handful of shouts and a smattering of applause. Fans are totally morose. The support is pitiful. Not pointing the finger at anyone. But overall, you look at the ground, and only the smallest stand in the ground is actually offering any support! Well done everyone for turning up, but surely a 'come on' when we get a corner isnt too much to ask? Not healthy signs at all.

I liked it when Macca took the short corner to Big Kev and the whole ground growned before Big Kev played it back to Macca, he crossed it and Cox scored.

"No!!! It'll never work" said the bloke in front of us, just after I said to my mate "macca to whip it in, 1-0 town" (and I never get it right). smiles all round when Coxy nodded it home!! Good day yesterday.

Well it must be our first succesful short corner of the season.
Morrison's throw ins looked a little more dangerous yesterday, flatter stronger.

There was one bit of play were we passed it around for ages, crossed in and cox missed a relativley easy chance. People were complaining that we were passing it around in a measured fashion as opposed to humping it into the box

Our first succesful short corner in years I expect. Remember the Manchester United/Chelsea/Giggs/Rooney corner that sparked off all the debate once, I remember we tried it at home. Miglioranzi went over rolled the ball forwards then jogged away. None of our players re-acted and the opposition just ran and got the ball. Best corner ever!!! Our set pieces look a hell of alot better under Wilson. More movement from throw ins, people going short, better corners and better positioning in the box and no more stupid like jig!

Yeah there were a couple around me complaining about it going back and forth between OTJ and Timlin. Didn't see the problem myself. We still had the ball! It's good to see us being calm in what is quite a high pressure situation.

Solid. That was yesterday, solid and professional. I cannot endorse Danny Wilson enough. The bloke has been here 3 months, and pretty much 1 month of that we couldnt train properly due to adverse weather. He inherited a team with zero confidence, no zest for the game, clueless and inept. He has in a relativley short space of time seen where we needed strengthing, gone out and got players in on loan and as back up. But most importantly made the players believe in themselves. Think back to before xmas and the performances we saw, hoof ball, no assurance, panic stations. Yesterday the team played with a measure of confidence and dare i say it skill alongside fluent passing moves and players wanting not shying away from the ball.
Timlin was my MOM yesterday, he looked hungry, always making himself available for a simple pass and constantly breaking up Herefords play and getting in their face. I have to say he was helped by Tudor -Jones whom i think we have to look at making a permanent signing, the bloke has hardly played for ages so imagine when hes fully match fit. He was a perfect foil for timlin and i can see them getting better and better together.
Greer is another player we need to get to put pen to paper. This bloke is commanding. the bollockings he dished out to morrison and jack smith, the way he and morrison combined to mop up after each other. fucking superb.
There is still a relegation scrap on our hands, getting 6 points from the next 2 games would be superb, play like we did in the last two and its not a pipe dream.

You don't sit near me do you, 'cause two old codgers behind me said exactly the same thing.
Only difference was that they didn't shut up then, kept moaning about every little thing throughout.
Centre of town end, above the exit?
No we sit in the Don Rogers (I'm too old to stand up now ). I guess we have more than two old moaners then

Yeah that's what I metioned in my earlier post. It's funny because they soon shut up yet when we did again they still moaned despite the fact we got a goal from it the first time. Bizzare. It's great that we can actually score from corners now.

I've been slating our short corners for a while as we've never done anything good from them before yesterday.
I just hope we don't now take all short corners from now on, i think they only work against defensively shite teams who don't man mark anyone in a crossing position.
