So those of you who went, what did you think?
I just read a few fan reviews on his own website and it sounds like he was on fire.
Thoughts?

OST, best performance in years, band was strongest its ever been, no filler set, fucking beauty. And for all the oldies, town called malice, eton rifles, shout to the top and butterfly collector.
22 dreams is a fucking great album if not his best ever.

That's good to hear, and on second thoughts, Weller playing Swindon shouldn't be tucked away in the gigs thread. It is deserving of a thread of its own.
The last couple of Weller gigs I've seen were Thetford Forest in '04 and Brighton '06 and it was obvious from those that the bloke just absolutely loves playing live. Playing live is his life (but not in a sad 'get a life' kind of way) and when you think that he has played literally thousands of gigs in the last 30 odd years, it would be an understatement to say that he knows what he's doing. Putting those two factors together means you can't go wrong with a Weller gig.
I love the fact that he plays Jam and TSC stuff these days and I think that's where a lot of this new 'joie de vive' style comes from. He's got a fantastic body of solo work now and he know's he can play 'My Ever Changing Moods' or 'In The Crowd' if he wants to without some cunt saying 'Ooooh, he's lacking in material'. He's mastered his art and his having a ball. Long may it continue.
Did you have a beer with him Mex?

It was a great night. As was said in the gigs thread the sound was probably the best the venue has produced. Everything just seemed to flow. Weller didn't do much talking but he didn't need to because the set was that good. The place went mental when Town Called Malice was played as an encore. Great stuff.

Best gig I've ever seen at the Oasis, saw him twice last year he was excellent both times then and great on the night here, as someone else said live is obviously his real love, seen him live many times and with the exception of the one time I saw TSC (at the Albert Hall) he's never let me down.
