Been given a loan of £100,000 by Cheltenham Borough Council in an attempt to stave off administration. That's a slippery slope to go down.

That's desperate - implies they can't get further "proper" investment and really is just staving off the inevitable. Allen has a lot to answer for - got them relegated and bust in one season!

That will go nowhere.
Theyve now got 12 months to stave off a 10 point deduction which could be much more costly.

In fairness it's a good move for Exeter, but he was shit at Cheltenham and Brighton in this division.

Thats exactly what I thought. Especially when Cheltenham is a town with a majority of rugby following and not football.

My friend works for GWR in Cheltenham - I was chatting to her at circuits last night and now she knows nothing about football but asked me if I knew if Cheltenham were in finanical difficulty - she said they had ordered loads of radio adverts to be made to try and drum up support and sponsorship but couldnt afford to pay for them!

this loan is subject to full council ratification innit? How would you assess the ability of a strugglingg football league club to pay back a commercial rate loan - it won't be cheap!
