Hypothetically speaking, could a Scottish club offer a pre-contract thingy to Greer?
I know that an English club, such as our own, cannot officially until his deal expires.

Oh, so it means Scotland. I think its only players in your own league you can't offer a pre-contract to, so a Scottish club could to a player with an English club. But that hasn't happened has it, someone would have said something by now - its not like they're a secret or anything. I can't see him going there for footballing reasons. Possibly for money, but provided we offer him something decent I'm sure we could tempt him - plus he'll be captain and playing every week. We really need to push the boat out and get him to stay, I reckon he's our best player after Cox and will give us something solid to build around.

When the game finished and Greer came over to the DRS, he was punching the air and had a real look of relief/satisfaction that the job was done. I hope we sign him.

Fitton or Wilson said a month or so ago that they'd already made it clear to Greer that there was a contract waiting for him at the end of the season. I'd be surprised if they hadn't been talking with his agent for a while now. I reckon any competition for him will come from another League 1 club, same as with Cox.

He may well do but there's a chance to come here and get regular first team football as a captain. He's enjoyed playing here and he's even admitted that himself. The only factor to stop a move would be money I guess.
Ummmm....relocation perhaps? Used to being up north..

Yep. He was well chuffed, something which I thought was great to see. Yes, it's annoying that we've been crap this season but to see players like Greer, Smith, Easton, Paynter and Cox looking as delighted as us with the result was great. I really hope Greer stays. He's been a huge part of the changes that Wilson made and made our defence look infinitely better

He turned down a contract extension at Kilmarnock (who were in the SPL) for Doncaster (who were in League 1). If staying up north was important I doubt he'd have come here on loan for a few months, seems that playing regularly is more important to him and that he doesn't mind it down south too much (even Doncaster is "down south" if you live in Scotland).

And also that he feels it is time to move on from Doncaster, according to the man himself on BBC RS.

Redaing the report he will come to us all other things being equal. He will go elsewhere should the pay be substantially more.
