Vehicle Body Repair Centre in Cheney Manor.
Whatever you do, steer clear of Nationwide Accident Repair in Hawksworth.

I drove into a friend's low wall in Glasgow last summer and put a dent in the front left door. The local Ford dealership quoted £550 to sort it out. I declined. Then took the car to a back street body repair shop and they did a faultless repair for £180.
I don't live in Swindon so can't help there. Simply making the point that dealerships will effectively price themselves out of work like this because it's not their main business and they don't want the work.

If it were me I'd take it to a dealer. Then its done by the manufacturer dealership. Might be pricey, but end of the day you're not paying for it.

I was hoping to get my door dent (sounds like pretty much the same place as p2p's) done this year - at those prices i wont be.
Sounds silly but can you do it yourself with a hammer?

You can do depending on the dent and where it is. I'd advise not to use a hammer though.

Sounds silly but can you do it yourself with a hammer? You'll need a slide hammer, it's a specialised tool for knocking the dent out bit by bit. There's a bit of a skill to it though and you'd probably be better off taking it to someone who knows what they're doing, otherwise it could end up worse than it started!

Of course, if you used an MC Hammer, you can't touch this

A slide hammer, hmmm interesting. Im seriously considering it as the dent annoys me. How would I get the inside panel off the car though - take it that would need specialist removal?

There should be loads of little round caps on discreet parts of the door. Pop them off and underneath you will find screws. I'm sure even you can work the rest out!
Alternatively get a Haines manual.
