Greer was also my MOM although every player did their bit, including Smithy. Nice to see Mildy again with good rapport with the Town End as usual. Particularly nice of him to let in 3. Play like this on Saturday then Hereford are in the shit !

If I have to be picky, why was Marshall on the left wing when he came on when Macca was on the right? Is Wilson deliberately looking for his wingers to cut inside or what?
Although Macca is a leftie and Marshall is a rightie, both are proficient with their other feet, in fact every time i've seen marshall when he's on the right he'll try and cut in and cross with his left. Seen a couple of comments about macca a little negative on here, looking at the southend boards they were raving about him and couldn't work out why he wasn't mom.

You got a link - would quite like to see their comments.

What a relief!

All played well in MHO. Yes

Even Timlin wasnt shite and Tudor Jones looked solid.

Southend were poor and i expect their fans were not happy with their display.

We must string some results together with Hereford and Northampton coming up.

I am missing Hereford but got my ticket for Northampton last night.......two wins?Huh?  now that would be a proper result!

I can't believe people knocking Smith last night.  His save in the first half, a blinder, meant their best attack ended in a corner, which we then broke from and scored.

His distribution was what it needed to be, safe.  He threw the ball out and passed it out (from pass backs) a lot in the first half.  In the 2nd we changed tactics and this was not needed.  Plus his goal kicks are much more contestable than Brezovan's.  It's like the guys behind me moaning in the 2nd half about throw ins going backwards to the free man - we are winning chaps, it's all about keeping that lead now.  If we were 1-0 up in a tight game I can understand people wanting more urgency or to keep the pace and passing going, but at 2-0 without a win for an age and in the relegation zone the first thought has to be to keep hold of that once 2-0 and cruising.

If anyone listened to Wilson after the game they should have been impressed.  The team were sent out 2nd half to keep turning the defence of Southend.  He told them how demoralising it can feel (and we should know) to be 2 down and keep running back to goal to defend rather than being able to face up the play and push us back.

As a self confessed Smith "basher" (well I have this season) I have to say the bloke did nothing wrong last night, kept goal as well, actually better, than Brezovan has of late.  I am praying that this is the sign of things to come and that the lads realise the potential they've got.

Loving the defensive line up at the moment too, Amank, Morri, Greer and Vincenzo, fantastic.  OTJ won a lot in the air last night, Timlin was the Gattuso style player we need right now.  HKR and Macca had good games and Billy and Coxy put a decent shift in too.

No complaints!!!

Worked though didn't it.

Would have worked better if Macca was crossing from the left and Marshall from the right using their stronger feet.

Actually, to be fair rather than "people" you should probably insert my user name.

As I've said my main complaint last night was his distribution, other than that he fumbled a cross and that's about it. But one performance doesn't make you a great player and I still think that over the season that Brezovan is the better keeper.

The way Malpas changed the keeper every time they made a mistake at the beginning of the season caused both keepers to lose all their confidence and play shit. On that basis I'd prefer Smith to stay in goal at present, if he goes with Brezovan again he'll be worried a single mistake will cost him his place.

I'd just like to see Smith getting the ball out to our players rather than punting it up field.

Based on recent performances Smith has been better thats all that matters. When you are 2nil up surely its best to hit to the corners making them work rather than fucking about on the edge of the box.
