I'd be interested to hear a Southend perspective - as much as we looked a bit good for large parts of the game, they just seemed to offer absolutely nothing. Very promising nonetheless, pleased to see the defence looking a bit more solid.
Please win again on Saturday, I can't take much more justified optimism being smashed to pieces the following game.

I still think Phil Smith is shit. He missed a couple of crosses, fucked up a few kicks and his distribution was abysmal.
I would say the opposite about Phil Smith. He fumbled one quite badly, but apart from that I thought he was pretty safe at claiming them. Much less stressful than the couple of times I've seen Brez this season anyway.

I felt a lot more confident with Smith in goal tonight instead of Brez!

Not sure how anyone can knock Smith after tonight (and from what I've heard, after Leeds). One thing that really stuck out for me was the bollockings he gave out early on, after they had a free header and another chance. Never seen Brez do that. otherwise, yaay

Smith fumbled one (which ive certainly see given as a foul on the keeper on many occasions) he tried to claim it realised he didnt have it, went back towards his line and saved it.
As far as I remember he claimed every other cross and corner and caught them!

Timlin was superb today, and greer and amankwaah also put in great shifts.
Cox never stopped running for a second - i love the effort he shows, just wish we could use him more.
Brilliant to have that winning feeling back, roll on Saturday.

As soon as that happened I turned to ibelieveinmrreeves and said it would have been given as a freekick at old trafford. Overall a good performance from Smith to back up his day at leeds.

I still think Phil Smith is shit. He missed a couple of crosses, fucked up a few kicks and his distribution was abysmal.*
That second penalty was a bit of a joke, sure he was fouled ** but his last touch just before was on target for the corner flag.
Marshall is looking a lot better every time I see him. Still not quite up to it though.
*I think thats one eyed to say the least. No mention of the save from the deflected shot, I can only remember one duff kick, and no poor distribution apart from that. There were a couple of good catches where we have been accustomed to St Flappy's 'punches'. He did drop one cross I'll grant you. ** so, not a joke then Agreed on Marshall, although I couldn't work out why he and McNamee were on the wrong wings. There wasn't enough turning inside to make it a valid tactic. Apart from the first goal, I wasn't impressed by McNamee. too many blind alleys, and he definitely bottled a couple of challenges. He was constantly having to be directed by Wilson and Byrne as well - you'd think he'd have learnt something by now.

Oh and Barry you're a twat for forgetting the game!
I know. I am a dick. Dunno how i managed it. I spoke to a mate at lunch who asked if i fancied poker tonight, i said yeah, but explained i was sure there was something i had to do tonight... ...and his distribution was abysmal.
I know, he kicks the ball straight, keeps it in. It's a joke, why can't he place the ball onto someone's head from 70 yards? What i'd give for Brezovan's Beckham esq kicking...

Half of it. I arrived just after the half time whistle, so i missed the Brazilian part of the game. To be fair though it doesn't take much more than about 10 minutes to see Smith can kick pretty well and Brezovan obviously went to kicking school with Evans and Griemink.

Don't bad mouth the Griemink. Probably Swindon's best dutch keeper ever.

My first home game of the season and we win 3-0! It's alright, I'm there on Saturday so we'll win again no doubt..! Good game, played like Real Madrid, late run at the playoffs...?! Southend looked pointless, no threat really apart from the Smith fumble. We didn't look an awful lot better in the final 3rd, but played some good stuff, "lacking that final ball" (I hate that cliche)... Tudor Jones really impressed me, great in the tackle and gave us some bite in midfield!
