No didn't in the end, but probably will tonight. Rendezvous in abbeymeads is nothing special, as we normally use them.
Hah! All that and still no Chinese! Odd that several people have said Abbey Meads Rendezvous isn't up to much as the original town centre one is pretty good IMHO. Either the spin-offs have really let standards slip or maybe we just have a lower "pretty good Chinese" threshold. Anyone tried both? |

Paul makes one piss poor joke and it turns into three pages of bitching and moaning. You come on here and people are going to take the piss. If you make it clear to everybody that you're an active member of a party led by a group of neo-nazi's then that's going to define your forum persona I'm afraid and people are going to tend to take the piss about that.
Ben doesn't complain that most of the piss taking directed at him is about him being a workshy drunk. That's the character he inhabits on here. I don't complain about being stereo-typed as a lefty do-gooder.
I find the political opinions expressed by the BNP just plain fucking offensive. I assume that most of those that support them are seriously disillusioned with life and mainstream politics, badly misinformed and / or a bit thick. If I regularly came into contact with anyone who was a member of the BNP, at work, in the pub anywhere, I would mention it and make it clear how I felt about it EVERY fucking time they attempted to speak to me. All Paul's doing is the online equivalent of that.
To be honest Ironside gets a much easier ride on here than he would if he regularly came into physical contact with us. I wouldn't speak with a member of a fascist organisation ordinarily, other than to say "fuck off nazi". Paul pointing out the irony of the man expressing opinions about the comparative culinary skills of a group of people that he's dedicated to having expatriated is the fucking least he should expect.
I don't think either Paul or I have ever tried to start any kind of political argument with Ironside. I personally wouldn't engage in debate with him or any other fascist in other circumstances. It's only the written, publicly posted nature of this forum that provokes me to respond when he puts up some load of old bollocks, riddled with myth, prejudice and factual inaccuracy. It's not about persuading him it's generally about countering his "arguments" for anyone else that might read it and be influenced by it. Which of course is why he's on here in the first place.
Anyway whoever it was who decided to take offense on the old nazi's behalf and have a go at Paul for having a perfectly legitimate dig, FFS get a life.

I'm a lefty but rather than just dismiss the BNP as loons and thugs I'd rather engage in debate with them than just ridicule all of them because you don't agree. Unfortunately there are some very educated members of the BNP and they come from all walks of life - to dismiss them as simply as you do is as simplistic as you accuse them of. The problem for the UK is that you work next to BNP sympathisers, they care for you in hospitals, they save you from burglars, they protect the country, they give you your money at the bank etc etc. They're not all rabid shaven headed nutcases like not every one in the communist party is a folk signing bearded bore with leather patches on thier jackets. |

Damn right Sam. Bart already has the whole 'slate him no matter what' forum role  Ironside deserves to be persecuted, he has a right to freedom of speech but that doesn't mean without ridicule back. |
