Steven MacLean - according to the Adver. Not the big target man I was expecting. Far more of a finisher.

Story below...
FORMER Town boss Paul Sturrock could hold the key to Danny Wilson's attempts at bringing new loan signings to the County Ground, according to reports this morning.

With Lee Peacock set to miss the remainder of the campaign, Wilson is desperate to boost his attacking options with Plymouth Argyle's Steven MacLean the latest name to be linked with a temporary switch to Wiltshire.

MacLean has started just a dozen games for Sturrock's Argyle side this season, with the Pilgrims' boss understood to be considering whether to let him out on loan.

Argyle's record signing Simon Walton and Luke Summerfield, son of former Swindon assistant boss Kevin, plus Bristol City midfielder David Noble are other names in the frame.

Wilson was still hoping to tie up a loan deal today, with Pat Kanyuka also on the Town injured list.

Steve Maclean has a great goalscoring rate at Scunny and Sheffield Wednesday but unfortunately seems to have suffered some bad injuries and hasn't really been the same since. Think he is similar to Paynter but scores more goals. Could be the kick up the arse Paynter needs with some healthy competition.

MacLean and Noble are both quite experienced players and would be good additions to the squad, Walton for some reason is disliked by Argyle fans for his attitude as well as playing style.

All are better than what we already have though IMO.

Sturrock can fuck off with his cast offs.
Who needs his help, afterall he could not even be bothered to bring a strong side pre-season.

Although Walton's style of play would bring a lot to our team,he has a severe attitude problem.
I would have thought that wages would also be an issue, unless we could come to some sort
of agreement.

Maclean on the face of it,would bring something, but he has so many fitness and injury problems,
we'd be lucky to get a full 90 mins out of him.

We'll just have to wait and see,but i won't be waiting with baited breath.

Would people not have said the same for Greer though? arrived with a lot of injury and fitness problems and has played nearly every game for us for the full 90 minutes.  Maclean has a good record at previous clubs and would be a good signing.  In fact all of the names linked today I would be pretty happy with.
