Fuck me, on day 1, and didn't realise how difficult giving up dairy would be!! My bodies not liking having no coffee (Can't stand black coffee), can't have mash potato for tea....grrrr. Soup it is.

there are plenty of sustitutes, not many people know this but vitalite is dairy free, also soya milk is available, not the best taste in the world on its own, but when mixed into cooking or baking its fine

You can have mash if you want, just don't put any dairy in it. It'll be a bit dry though.

My first day of giving up not giving things up was really easy and I anticipate the next 39 days will be the same.

Soya milk curdles when you put it in coffee, unless you leave it out to get to room temperature. Plus, as you rightly point out, it's fucking horrible.

Riiiiiiiccccceeeee

That's actually better. Can't remember if it curdles. If I was really desperate I'd probably use coffeemate.

Tea is different though, soya milk doesn't go bad in that. Still tastes rank though Smiley

I started off trying to be helpful but now I think I'm creating more of an argument for Sippo to stop being a dairy free freak Cheesy

Lemon is very good in tea...Morrocan mint tea is also mega ace.

One of those things you can try and recreate here, but it doesn't taste the same as in the souk.

A bunch of fresh mint and fuckloads of sugar tastes pretty similar, if not exactly the same.

It might to your drug addled taste buds, but I've tried to recreate the taste in that sort of way and it's just not the same.....much like Guinness always tastes better in Ireland...pate always tastes better in France and lardy cakes always taste better in Wiltshire.

Now now, Reginald. We're only young once. Tea (English Breakfast, sometimes Earl Grey if I'm feeling a bit jazzy) is my only vice now.

All they do is bung a load of fresh mint and sugar in a teapot, and add hot water.

I find that if you get a tea strainer and pour the hot water over the mint a good few times, then the flavour really comes out. Once you have done that, let it soak for a few minutes and hey presto - lovely 'souk quality' mint tea.

Careful though, Moroccan men all have decaying mouths for a reason.
