Aizlewood was from the same mould. Frank was a big slab of lad.

Shrewsbury away, around about 1977, right from the kick off Aizlewood flattens the home center-forward.  I think he got booked, it would have been a straight red, today.  It took them about five minutes to peel him up off the ground.  It was sheer brutality, the center-forward didn't get a kick after that.  The Town won of course.  Aizlewood was one hard piece of lard about twice as wide as Frank, though.

Great defender.  He replaced the gentleman that was Mel Nurse, a wonderful defender who was a footballing centre half. Totally different in style to Mel but both very good servants for the club
