I guess we can empathise with Burnley in snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. That Leeds game still hurts.

In many ways Burnley humiliated Spurs, but it really doesn't matter how well they played they still aren't going to Wembley.

the last proper cup run I thought of was Bolton in 95. Semi Finals Sad

I suppose the Southampton one was a bit of a run....

Anything less just isnt really enough of run for it to bare any lasting memory.

I wonder if poor ol' Ben Alnwick will never play for Tott-ing-ham again.

It was one of those games that started off slow, but during the second half i started full on supporting Burnley, cheering when they scored and i was gutted when they conceded.
It makes me just think what it would be like for us to be in that situation

me because they are, unless you you're good enough to do well in them.

we're a shit L1 club and we are never going to get far in the FA or League Cup so why even bother. If we were a decent team, say top 6 in the Championship like Burnley are I'd love a good cup getting further and further and actually starting to believe

but we're too shit to do it

In the FA Cup, there's no reason as a league one club we shouldn't make a decent effort to get to the third round, where the draw lottery has a reasonable chance of giving you a pay out or reasonably winnable game.

Yeah you're not likely to get a third round jackpot against one of the big 4, but even a reasonably sized championship club away is still a welcome financial boost.

You might as well take the we're shit so why bother attitude to the league too.

Plus most of my 'cup' hate is towards the piss poor paint pot which really is a waste of time.

Unless you get to Wembley, when financial gain alone makes it worthwhile.

And it is our only realistic chance of playing at Wembley.

Hardly a waste of time.

As a struggling 3rd tier football club there's lots of things we haven't got realistic chances of, but you don't just not bother. We still bother turning up away to a team playing better than us, and hopefully with a better attitude than that of "meh, we're probably lose anyway".

Yeah the Auto LDV Paint Trophey isn't the most illustrious competition in world football, but the reward for getting to the final is pretty good, especially as at this level you won't have to play anybody from a league above.

I wouldn't expect us to put a full strength side out for it, but the what's the point attitude seems pretty defeatist.

Go and eat some cake.
