                    Swindon Town      Stockport County
Shots (on Goal)    10(5)    12(5)
Fouls            11        11
Corner Kicks      9        9
Offsides              0        2
Time of Possession 48%    52%
Yellow Cards      1            1
Red Cards            0        0
Saves                  7            5

The stats seem to bear out what I thought at the game, pretty evenly matched. Despite the individual errors, we easily matched Stockport and could have got all 3 points, although a draw was a fair result.

Pilkington was different class.

A lot of our players aren't as good as I thought they were though and DW needs to get in a few replacements if we want to avoid a relegation battle for the rest of the season.

But at least it looked like they knew the system we were playing and, overall, it was a more disciplined performance.

dare i say it but i thought LP had put on a few LB's

Agreed. Always suspicious when players don't tuck the old shirt in.

Defensively worse than ever .. the back four and keeper were lucky not to concede 4 or 5 .. luck was actually on our side along with woeful Stockport finishing

Atack wise we looked a bit sharper at times .. there was no long aimless ball forward - it was all ball to feet but half the players didnt seem to cope with this style.

Lucky to get a draw .. but signs of improvement overall

I suppose Dannyboy was using the old kidology ploy after the game by saying he was pleased with the performace. I must have been at a different game!
Stockport should have sewn it up by half time as we gave them so much space and time all over the pitch.
Had it not been for a rush of blood from the goalkeeper we would never have scored.
As for his "brilliant" saves near the end I would say it was more a case of piss poor shooting from our strikeforce than anything else. Blairs shot was pathetic.
Our defence it seems will never improve.
I have never rated Timlin as a midfield player but thought he had found his niche at left back. His last two matches there has fucked that theory. Get shot of him ASAP along with sicknote (BC) and most of the other light weights.
Time to get the cheque book Mr Fitton as soon it will be too late.
It pains me to say it but I thought Pook looked good when he came on (or was it just that the rest were so bad).

A side note - how many decent balls did Macca put in last night? I'd wager it was around the zero mark, but i may have missed one while supping my Oxo (Bovril dropped again!)

I know I wasn't there but just seen the highlights on SSN and I think that was a shocking miss by Sturrock

Disappointed again but a better display than the Brighton fuck up.
We seemed to play better when we passed the ball simple but we only seemed to do this in small patchs and the rest of the time we starting pinging long balls up and across the pitch which fell constantly to Stockport players.
Heres my view for its cheapness:
JP was my best player.
Cox seemed to be trying to hard at times and the ball constantly stuck under his feet.
Brez improved but punched a bit too often...but im being picky.
Ifil...very good...just did the simple thing.
Smith...a player who was being bombed out is our most consistent performer...lucky with the pen but who cares..
Corr....what can i say...i doubt very much we will see him ever play in a town shirt again.
Kanyukkkkkk.....fucked up for the goal.
McNamee.....Seems to be a luxtury player who drifted out of the game.....im sorry to say he is not a player we needed when we rolled our sleeves up at the end and maybe for the long hard battle ahead.
Easton was much improved.
Peacock...did he play?
Timlin...good player but too much to do and struggled.
We need a combative midfielder and a decent defender before the window slams shut...if we get these i believe we will scrape enough to stay up as some of the teams below us are a bit worse.
In a relegation scrap we need to do just that and we need players who can battle.
Billy should be welcomed back as far as im concerned.... Crying

I thought Corr was good until he got injured. He won all the headers that Paynter would have been beaten to and then complained to the ref about, but then poor Corr got injured. I felt like crying Sad

Won all the headers?Huh??  I must of watched a different game.

Thought there was a mild improvement to the midfield, but the defence was even worse than usual due to terrible individual performances from Timlin and Kanyuka. Peacock was anonymous also.

Dont agree at all that it was 2 points lost, we may have taken the lead and had a glorious chance to win it in the last minute, but I thought Stockport were the better side and could easily have scored 3-4 if they had been more clinical.

We need new players danny. quickly

Brez - 7 -  flapped at a cross early on but did ok after that.
J Smith - 5-  was alright but has been better
Timlin - 3 -  Dire game. terrible passing and positioning. didnt seem to know what he was doing. perhaps not the solution to left back that we thought he was
Kanyuka - 2 -   My god he was shit.  let the ball go past him numerous times, has no influence over the direction of the ball when he heads it, and ball watched constantly.
Ifil - 6 -  Looked like Rio Ferdinand next to Kanyuka
McGovern - 6  - Worked hard, put a few decent balls in
Easton - 6 - His best performance for a while
Peacock - 4 - Anonymous
Macca. - 4 -  saw more of the ball than usual, and looked like he had been told to roam a bit and get involved. no end product though.
Cox - 6 - still not at his best, but won us a pen and did very well to set up sturrocks chance. says a lot when hes a bit out of sorts but still looks one of our best players.
Corr - 6 - I'm not going to mark him badly on his final professional appearance. did ok but nothing more really

I thought it was dire but then maybe I didnt want to go anyway and was just in a bad mood

Kanuka really is appalling and Cox was acting like a petualtant child over the penalty

mind you I managed to read The Programme, 442 and Heat magazine so wasnt really paying too much attention
