I'd have preffered someone older, and I also wanted Patterson Joseph.

How would they have explained him looking just like that bloke they met on the game-station that time?

That would be correct. His real name is one of the mysteries of the show, and was going to be part of an epic season length story arc with McCoy, but then it got axed. It's been bought up again recently though, in the brilliant "Girl in the Fireplace" and again in the "Scilence in the Library / Whatever the second part is called" double, both of witch were written by Moffat. Could be one of the things bought up in 2010.

There are some series back in the 70's or maybe 80's where he's called Doctor Who in the credits. That's just a mistake though. And there's obviously occasions when they play on it, "I'm the Doctor", "Doctor Who?"; amongst others.

Not bothered. Sure they'd have come up with something. Matha Jones actress had already appeared in the cybermen vs. daleks end of (new) S2 double.

Am I right in saying that, technically, the question should be "what do you think of the new Doctor?"?

Doctor Who being the program, the Doctor being... the doctor.

Seems reasonable...but where has being reasonable ever got us what this country needs is an iron fist...

I'm reliably informed that Gordon Brown was very busy talking to Mr Motivator this morning.

But luckily for him we have Tottenham Hotspur trying to single-handedly kick-start the economy by paying excessive amounts of money for a succession of British players.

S'pose so.

More importantly with DT about to FO out of the role, how are they going to square the future shadowing revealed by the professor in the library episode. He's got to meet the woman, fall in love, have a lenghty relationship, tell her his name and give her a sonic screwdriver (not a euphamism) before he changes his face, as she clearly had known him in this incarnation.

They've got 3/4 specials to sort that out, or they just leave it hanging and leave the chronology and timescale of the events of the specials vague enough to allow it to have happened off screen.

I don't really like the latter idea. The events of the episodes in the show since its  RTD rebirth have fitted together chronologically into broader grand narratives, I never liked it in the past when it used to get a bit messy and there were inconsistencies and anomalies in storylines.

Maybe she meets a future doctor, but then I suppose how does she recognise him and expect him to know who she is. Tricky one. Maybe she thinks he's the regeneration after next or something. Could work out I think.

Have to wait and see I suppose.

Nah, I watched this on the I-player the other week and she definately makes some remarks about his appearance, making it clear it's this incarnation she knew.

Stupid DT cocking up Moffat's big bold plans for plotlines. GRR!

I am a bit worried that Moffat seems to be obsessed with a romantic side for the doctor, there's the library two parter, girl in the fireplace, and the doctor dances. Not a path I'm too keen on.

The name thing good end up being awesome though. I had a thought that the reason she'd know his name could be something off the wall, like breaking his 12 regenerations limit, but as you say that doesn't really fit into the knowing his appearance stuff.

Either way I'm looking forward to the 2010 series. Shame it's such a wait. Oh well, still got the 4 specials to keep us going. Not long until easter for the next one.

There should be some Torchwood to keep us going as well.

I've made the assumption that Mickey will be joining them in the new series, based on the final episode of the last series of Dr Who, and possibly they'll move Marth across as well as there seem to have been some hints that her relationship with UNIT is a bit iffy.

Fuck I've turned into such a geek.

Torchwood is only going to be 5 episodes over 1 week. Or that's what I heard last time I looked.

It's generally pretty poor as well, although the second series improved, and I'm glad they did a bit of a character culling at the end.

I'm not sure things are looking to bright for it as a regular yearly series.

Ok I have re-registered just to make a few points on the original thread and to prove I know how to use the quote button.

Despite all the accusations, I had no intention of "winding up" anyone. Frankly, I've got better things to do with my time than gain some infantile satisfaction from the annoyance of others. I  merely wanted to raise some important issues about the club I have supported for 20 years.

Interestingly Ben I spent 20 minues typing a detailed response to your question about my concerns (as you suggested) with the current board. Had you waited a bit longer before giving us your trigger happy response you would have seen it. Still, it's you forum; you know best.

To be honest I need this crap like a fucking hole in the head.

This will be my first and last post.

I find it difficcult to have any sympathy for you even though I agree with some of your points,I think its because your name makes me think of Gas Heads.
