Speed may have played last match

From the BBC website - interesting.

Gary Speed has played 18 games for Sheffield United this season
Gary Speed may have played his final game after Sheffield United revealed he needs a back operation that could keep him out for the rest of the season.

The Welsh midfielder, 39, won the old First Division title with Leeds in 1992 and scored in every Premier League season until he dropped a division.

United boss Kevin Blackwell said Speed could take up a management for coaching role with another club.

Blackwell added: "I am getting used to being without him as a player."
