Just was a bit on Sky Sports news mentioning Walcott and Swindon and how we only got about 2k for him.

Saying that there should be more in place so that clubs like us benefit when they go onto bigger and better things.

Nice little bit of recognition for us there.

Why exactly should we have got anything for Walcott? What did we do to develop his talent? He was here for about 9 months FFS. All we did was spot a player that had scored over 100 goals in one season in his under 11 team and sign him up to our CofE. Less than a year later he had the chance to go to Southampton's academy and sensibly leapt at it. I'm not convinced he left here with any more potential than when he arrived.

Southampton invested more in their youth set up than us and as a result get the pick of the local kids. If we had a decent academy we might get to keep a few more decent kids.

walcott never signed here anyway.if he had under the modern day rules, compo would have to be agreed by the two clubs.
