Fitton did mention El Tel. I'm glad he wasn't offered the job.

I thought the Venables comment was hypothetical.
Who cares who the guy was it's totally irrelevant.

I thought it had been pretty much established the socks off guy was Kinnear. Who wouldn't for most, but that's irrelevant

Well he's more likely to blow socks off than Terry Venables and he was certainly in Swindon at some point.

Why has Flitton taken so long to appoint a new manager shouldn't he have had a contingency plan before sacking Malpas, as other clubs dont take a month+ to complete this process. Finally I hope the final 4 x interviewees weren't restricted by their willingness to work or not with a existing backroom team that has failed. Money will be ok but would have preferred Holloway.

Holloway was a total disaster at Leicester (and as I'm married to a Leicester fan, I know of what I speak), we are better off without him. And if Venebles was the 'blow your socks off candidate' then fuck me we dodged a bullet there! I've had enough of former banned company directors at Swindon to last a fucking lifetime.

Fitton has said that he could've made a quick appointment and then stated that he was glad that he didn't. That says to me that he spoke to the early contenters and wasn't impressed. That's fair enough in my opinion.
There is still plenty of time and a transfer window to save this season from being a total disaster... There's simply no point dwelling.
Get the guy in early next week and let's see what happens.

A fair question. I'm happy with Dickie Dosh, but to be honest it's difficult when you're not part of the selection process to really offer alternatives. It's easier to respond to those names once they're thrown in to the ring. Stuart Pearce would've been ace...but was it ever realistic? However, if you want me to name the one guy I would've gone for (which was your original question) then Jan Aage Fjortoft. I have no idea if he'd have been any good, but it'd made me very happy. I'd have aeroplaned all the way to the CG.
