I got paid today. I get paid every four weeks, but all my bills go out the 1st of the month. My next payday is 1st January, which means I have a months wages with no bills Woot Jumping

My car started playing up last night on the way home from Portland. Took it to my mate who owns a garage and he thinks it's probably the catylitic converter. It's booked in tomorrow.

Cunting car.

The catalytic converters are notoriously shit on Meganes. And being French, they're ridiculously expensive to replace.

Is he sure it's the CC though? What problem were you having?

It's coughing and sputtering like it's on 40 fags a day, really slow accelaration, especially in lower gears and the streering wheel and gear knob are rattling around when the engine's running at idle.

I may have to use my other half's car on Saturday: a mustard coloured Saxo.....

Sounds like either an air intake or a sensor problem to me. More than likely the MAF sensor which is behind the air intake or could be the Lambda sensor. They get caked in dirt which stops them from working properly, just give them a clean and could be good as new.

Also, from the MAF sensor there's a small pipe running into the air box. They can get small splits in them causing stuttering problems.

I've got a stutter. Maybe my MAF sensor needs looking at.......

Get a Haynes manual if you haven't got one, they're very handy.

Sam. The extent of my vehicle knowledge is the petrol cap and the wiper bottle.

If I touch anything mechanical, I kill it.

Here's an idea. Stop buying French cars, they are notoriously badly made!

Changing it at the end of the season. Probably get a Ford this time.

The end of the football season or the car season? When does the car season end?

I have had a few fords, had no problems with them although my first car (old) X Reg Ford Escort 1.6 did die but that was an old thing!

that would be my guess. My ex had a 206 and performance dropped and was just shit. like it was on kangaroo petrol etc. took it to garage who diagnosed this after AA said it was the CAT and it was perfect after.
