I see that Sir John Mortimer has passed away after a long illness.Queens Counsel, playwright and
author of the Rumpole series.Loved good food and especially wine, probably one of the first of the
champagne socialists.Dry wit and a great raconteur.

well she says she has to go on TV and tell everyone about it so that she can earn money to feed her children? not that Im a supporter of her -I think shes a bit vile

But I read and interview with her and although she had a history of ovarian cancer in her family and had been having womens problems she ingored letters asking her to go in for a smear test and never went - by the time she actually did it was too late

A close friend of my gf has cancer of the liver, it's not looking good for her at all.  It's not nice at all, esepcially for someone in their 20's.  I couldn't care less if JG goes on the TV to tell people about her ordeal, the girl doesn't have that long to live.

Flipping heck some people on here need to get a sense of humanity, all very well slagging people off all the time, but a bit of compassion from time to time wouldn't go a miss.

How terminal was this when it was reported last year? Just in case I have to make a judgement.

I've only just sat down to read the TEF properly for the first time in about a week. Lot's to catch up on.

Dont get me wrong Jan I think its very sad especially as she has 2 small children  - also I think if she can encourage girls to go for smears and try and help other people from getting ill then thats a good thing

Quite. The TV has an off button and numerous other channels.

It's going to be pretty rough for her, and her kids. Horrible thing to happen to anyone.

As much as i find it sad for her, i can't help thinking it'd be more dignified if she didnt try and cash in on it and concentrated on trying 100% to fight it and enjoy time with her loved ones.

Plus i can't stand her face and so had to forgo the Sun for today.

I agree. I've not watched or read much about it. But whether you agree or not, she is in the public eye and the type of people that do read and watch this stuff are perhaps uneducated in such matters so it is a good thing, and at least she will have some money to know her kids will be looked after.
I got in trouble at work the other day for saying she looks pretty with no hair.

It was fairly widespread knowledge that she had cancer.

Seems you literally can polish a shit after all then.

And i'm with jan on this whole compassion thing.

I've always found her annoying and now for some reason, which i can't truly explain, i feel really sad for her. Perhaps i feel more for her kid/s, or maybe i just feel bad for disliking her. I think any publicity for cancer, especially if this was the result of a missed smear test, is a good thing. Good on her i say.
