Don't start making predictions yet.Just seeing if anybody wanted to turn it into a morbid game. I mentioned the idea in the
old death predictions thread. Land of Bo linked me up with a site with ideas that I've pilfered to come up with an initial set of rules.
Basically I was thinking that anybody who wants to play submits a list of 10 "celebrities" (I think having a wikipedia page is a good place to draw a line), if one of them dies then you get 1 point for every year they are under 100. Basically 100-[age at death] points. So if someone is 70 when they die, you get 30 points.
The deadline for making the 10 predictions would be December 31st. Any candidates who are known to be terminally ill would be only be worth a fraction of the points they'd normally get (I'm thinking a tenth), and anybody critically ill with a life threatening disease (but not necessarily terminal, or maybe not deathly serious terminal) would be on something similar (Maybe a fifth, depending on the severity. I guess I'd have to be judge).
So this is a thread to see if anybody would be interested in playing such a morbid game? And also if you have any suggestions on any other rules.
The big thing, apart from judging interest, is to decide if your prediction lists are private (you PM me them and I keep track), or public so everybody can see your ideas and copy them but you can do the same. Either way you'd be able to chop and change until the deadline of new years. If it's private then I'd post all the people who had predicted a death as it happens.
Even if you have no rule suggestions and are happy with my initial plans, then still post to say you want to play. Just throwing it out there for interest really. I'm not sure it'll work without a fair few tefers playing.
Oh and if you think the whole idea is morally reprehensible or something, then feel free to start a new thread complaining about how I'm a cunt, but don't fuck up this one. I want to judge interest without going into a debate about the depravity of taking entertainment from death.
Again... I don't want your predictions yet, I'll start a thread for that early December if people are interested.
