Good Evans this is getting tough so on i thaught who could it be...i need some help, ile ask my mate Willie...i ask him..Willie mmms for abit and hes at a loss also. So while delivering at a stables in Lambourne i ask the Smith if hes had any info being a betting town..Your Gus is as good mine is the reply. On the way home a small nut worked lose so while searching for my Allen key ime still wondering who its going to be. Even at the quizz night it was bugging me...it went to the final question, who was Bushes vice chairman, without thinking i shouted was it Gore man! So today ime still wondering and even while looking in the mirror with razor in hand i was thinking who it could be. Its driving the other half mad and shes warned me if it carries on she could end up in Holloway....and then it Dawned on me that thats who it could be!

Nout on the Adver website yet. Would an appointment really be made without Fitton there?

If all the interviews have been done and a decision all but made then yes, Fitton must trust his chief exec to go and sort out the details.

CHIEF executive Nick Watkins admits Town’s marathon managerial race is now entering its final stages - with an announcement on Maurice Malpas’s successor possible by tomorrow afternoon.
With chairman Andrew Fitton now out of the country until Friday on a business engagement, Watkins has assumed responsibility for negotiating with Town’s leading candidate.
And though the deadlock has yet to be broken with the chosen one’s club, Watkins knows a speedy resolution to the recruitment process is now crucial.
“We are conscious of the fact that we need to move ahead now, so whoever gets the job can look at things over Christmas and assess what he wants to do in the January transfer window,” said Watkins, pictured left, yesterday.
“It’s progressing along the lines that we had hoped and could result in something happening in the next 48 to 56 hours, but we have nothing definite to report as yet.
“We are in discussions with a candidate at the moment.
“As I have said, those discussions are going to be determined not just by us but by people on the other side too.
“All the candidates are in work at the moment. Therefore they have to be extracted from their current situations, and that takes time.
“We are still hopeful we can reach a successful compromise to get things unlocked.”
With the shortlist for the vacant manager’s job now reduced to three, Fitton has stated publicly he would be happy to employ any one of them.
The board are keen to have the new man in place before Saturday’s visit of Yeovil, as Town look to free themselves from the shackles of a relegation scrap.
“It does need somebody to come in and blow some fresh air through the place,” said Watkins.
“I listened to the Crewe game on the radio the other day and it was very disappointing.
“Everything went for us on Saturday in terms of the other results though, so we didn’t lose any ground.
“There are no fundamental flaws here. We have the basis of a good squad, we just need to get them playing to their ability.”
Fitton meanwhile continues to play his cards close to his chest about the identity of his number one choice, although the Advertiser understands Newcastle United Academy director Richard Money could still be unveiled before the weekend.
Sources close to St James’ Park suggest Money would find it difficult to turn down a move to the County Ground, should a compensation package between the clubs be agreed.
And the Town chairman says he is not afraid to leave the matter in Watkins’ capable hands.
Speaking before he boarded a plane to the United States, Fitton said: “We’re still trying to work through things at the moment.
“We’re still trying to get all the bits of paper in place, and that takes time.
“I’m not afraid for us to make an announcement when I’m not there however, but I can’t say when an announcement will be made.”
Meanwhile, Town’s interest in Sheffield United player/coach Gary Speed could be thwarted by the Bramhall Lane club’s demands for compensation.
Speed’s playing contract with the Blades expires at the end of the current season, but he is committed to at least another year with the club in a coaching capacity.
The Advertiser understands the former Welsh international is keen to play on for as long as possible at the highest level, alongside his coaching responsibilities.

No way will he move there. He'll be practically accepting a League Two job with them!

Was he the fourth candidate? And why would he take Crewe if he has held out this long? “All the candidates are in work at the moment". Is that Danny Wilson denied then?
