I have noticed, especially in the morning, that my breaks squeak from time to time. It isnt really consistent and it doesnt always happen, nor do they feel spongey under foot.
Anyone else had this and is it a case of getting new pads or something?

Brake pads are designed to make a squeak/squeeling sound as they come to the end of their life.....it's usually especially evident when turning slowly. I'd get your pads done asap before they start scouring your disks.

Depends on the car and pads really wouldn't of thought £100 will be far off if its just the pair that needs doing. I'm presuming the squeaking hasn't been going on too long as then there's a risk you've damaged your disks and then you'd be looking around £250.

The squeeling sound is the air compressing between the back of the pads and the caliper.

You can pick up a set of front pads for £15 a wheel and fit them yourself in less than an hour.

My breaks always squeak and they're new. Well they're about 2 months and a few thousand miles old, but they're annoying as fuck. Apparently it's something to do with the type of brakes, but it still doesn't lessen the looks i get a traffic lights.

apparantly the modern day brakes pads dont have asbestos in them which can add to squeeking.dont know how true this is but i've been told that by a few people.

Even brakes with new pads can squeak in cold damp weather, especially if you park overnight on the street rather than tuck your car away in a nice warm garage. If after a bit of driving when they've warmed up and dried out they're still squeaking then your pads probably need replacing. If you start to hear a horrible grinding noise of metal on metal when you brake you've left it too late.

Whilst we are on the subject of cars, my windscreen wipers have stopped working, I believe it is maybe just a fuse that has blown as everything else works perfectly.
Anyone know where the fuse box in an Audi A3 is?

In the cupboard under the stairs ?
Looked there, could only find a mop, a hoover called Henry and an Austrian family.
