Was going to mention this. Prima Donna cunts should take a lesson from David Beckham who would die to be in the England team (metaphorically speaking)

Oh come one, it was only a chuffin' friendly?!
I thought this thread was going to be a mutual recollection of awesome comebacks, e.g. Sheff Weds at home 3-4 years ago... Howard, Parkin, Fallon, mental times. I'm frankly disappointed.

As a fan I always say how much club football is more important than it's international buddy, would be hypocritical of me to have a go at players for acting out the same feelings.
Saying that, they probably should remember that their over inflated wages are paid for through the sky telly generation of fans who think that an England game on the telly is the height of importance to football.

True but Capello treats every game as a competitive fixture. To be fair though I guess we got to see our squad's depth. Friendly or not players should want to play for their country.

There is actually quite a simple solution to the problem. Players valuations are often but not always dictated by their number of caps. If Capello thought he was not getting the support of certain managers then refusing to pick players from certain clubs would soon get them in line. The players valuations would plummet and money talks. This would be on the basis we'd be prepared to take a few hits long the way.

The caps valuation thing might have been true a decade ago, but I doubt it makes much difference now. Would the amount clubs are willing to pay for a player who'd doing well in the champions league, or even just the top flight of Italy/Spain/England, really be affected by them not being called up for international duty? I don't think so.

Looking at Capello's track record I reckon they have shot themselves in the foot, he wont fuck around and will have no qualms dropping any fucker. Alot of those players are going to have to fight to get back in the team.

Correction. It gave our reserves an opportunity to beat their reserves.

How many times was Ryan Giggs unable to play in a Welsh friendly, yet he could always make qualifiers!! There's got to be some statto out there who can tell us. This withdrawing your best players from a friendly squad started at Old Trafford years ago, it's just spread throughout the prem now!
