I cant agree with all this "good point" business,if you concede a 94th minute equaliser due to indiscipline it's a bad point in my book

Byrne is sounding a bit of a muppet while we drop another place in the league

Sorry

I am going to put my bollocks on the line but

I like the guy

Refreshing change from the last man

Good substitution in the first half (felt sorry for Joyce, but "for the greater good" and all that)

All in all a decent point away from home, so pleased for big Barry as well

I dont dislike the guy Fred-I'm just a bit wary of managers who consider themselves "a bit of a character".Im just disappointed we've let another 2 points slip away and are heading down the table.I dont think anyone who knows me can describe me as negative

Credit where credit is due to Byrne. He's doing a pretty decent job. I just don't think he's the full time answer.

I have to disagree Andy, i get the impression he try;s too hard and says what he knows the fans want to hear. The Joyce decision for example, i think he only played him to show fitton he is prepared to give youth a chance.

Dont get me wrong i am happy as fuck with the point but paynter in midfield for fucksake

You mean the same Paynter who set up both the goals?

I like some of the things Byrne has done - seems to have been the instigator of us doing well attacking-wise, but we're a defensive mess - it needs sorting out. Byrne has been a heavy contributor to our team organisation and it's terrible. He ticks a lot of the boxes, but I fear his style is too focussed on raw talent, which won't get us anywhere long term (look at King for example).

I don't know exactly how they scored the equaliser, and like I said, it's so frustrating to concede taht late on. But at the end of the day we've come away with a point when some were contemplating whether or not we'd even score, as though Cox is the only person in our squad who doesn't become physically incapable of kicking a ball within 18 yards of the opposition's goal

Yes the same paynter who set up the goals.Seems alot of hassle just to keep Timlin at left back.

Agree with this post.  Malpas showing up without his own staff should have been a huge red flag.  These days, you need more than a manager.  Luggy showed up with his team, that's what we should be looking for this time, manager, first team coach, reserve team coach, and a new goalkeeping coach to follow.

I do think its a good point. We would have all taken it before play, just gutting that it was Rovers who got the last minute equalizer. If it had been us making it 2-2 late on we'd look more positivly on it.

5 unbeaten. 9 point from the last 15.

You do raise a good point DRS. Much of the things that the fans have slagged Malpas off for are probably Byrne's influence. I'm convinced he has an eye for player's skills and in fact tries to utilise them in other ways i.e. players in different positions. For players like Timlin, it has worked well, others it hasn't. Unfortunately most of our players are not developing youngsters. They've played in their positions for a long time and adapting doesn't work.

I'm also of the opinion that the bollocks 4-3.5-2.5 formation is Byrne's brainchild, as evidence by the lineups in the last 2 games. It doesn't work and never will.

That said, I think someone like Byrne clearly knows a decent player when he sees one and I think he can get good performances out of players.
