 I might be wrong on this one, but my recall is that to start with in the Prem you weren't allowed loans other than in a goalkeeping emergency...so the likes of Sanchez came on short term deals 2/3 month contracts.

Yep with Montels being equally as bad but yet is the only place open after 12 so I frequent it most weeks.
