IMO Boothroyd...not bad..Poyet...unproven as a manager...Curbishley..good manager proven record...Dowie...a few good and a few bad seasons.
We are Swindon....a (mostly) unapealling club, a pretty unapealling job, few funds and little financial reward offered, in a very unapealling division......why the hell would any of those 4 want to come to us?
Lets get our sights set on ACHIEVABLE managerial possibilities and a lot less pie in the sky options like these.
The 4 WILL NOT EVER come to us at the moment.
Ward, Holloway and possibly Cotterill could come to us as they all have links in the West country and probably would be willing to work at this level.
Why don't we show ambition and tryand get one of these guys, why settle for 2nd best ? Swindon is a well run club, decent owners who are willing to help the manager with a little money, debt free, ambition to be a well run championship club in the future. We are not the poor club we were once seen as, a manager could come here and do his reputation no end of good. I'd disagree about any of the 4 not being interested, I think we are a better prospect than a lot of clubs at our level now

Wise? Poyet? Sturrock? And we're in a better state than when any of them joined. Mug.

Wise was only here because of Power and Sturrock takes the first job he's offered.
Someone told me to job on this morning at football, he was a right stupid fucking prick. Needs a good smack in the mouth.

He's alright, his transfer skills are poor, and his substitutions and tactics are questionable, but I'll put it down to lack of experience.
Also, from what I've heard talking to a few mates in the youth academy, he's appalling at man management with anyone outside the squad fringes.
He promised Jordan Parkes a loan move about 18 months ago, he got it 6 months afterwards and came back after three weeks only to be sat in the reserves again.
He also refuses to use an assistant, we went twelve points clear with Burkinshaw by Aidys side, then when Boothroyd got too big for his boots and sacked him, we won about 2 in 15.
You could do a lot better, but all the same you could do a hell of a lot worse.
He doesn't like players who don't throw their weight about and have no physical presence, so don't expect McNamee to be favoured. I'd like him here to be fair, but would be just as pleased if we got Holloway or Dowie.

But the point is they still came. We also had Lou Macari, Ossie Ardiles, Glenn Hoddle, Steve McMahon all big names as footballers.
If you can pay them what they want and they're eager to get back in the game then they'll always be interested.

It's more a case of P.L clubs bringing in Foreign managers etc so the only real choice they have is to drop down, not always the case but... That said The european style of management has failed at a few clubs and now teams may be looking at english/british managers again.

I like the cut of Fitton's jib. By all means let go for a bigger name but let's try and go for someone who will at very least build something and leave a legacy. A nice little repeat of the Macari era would be preferable but perhaps unlikely in this day and age. I'd take a tidy little three year stint from Olly thanks very much.

Didnt Boothroyd get rid of MacNamee, dismissing him as a 'inconsistent luxury player'?
So I'm sure Anthony will relish Ady coming in....
