They have both been involved in the Malpas era so have contributed to the downful, neither has tactical nous, one is old school and abusive (his way or the highway), the other is out on the piss with the players.  If we appointed them it would cause the same discontent the Malpas appointment did, with most fans feeling very very dissappointed.  Time for a proven manager and proven coaching team.

Agreed. If you're going to give Byrne and Williams the job on a full time basis then you might aswell have left Malpas in charge.

It's time we moved on and had a complete clearout of the backroom staff.

Evening everyone.

Another year, another exit but it's happened and now we can move on.

I've absolutely no idea who I want to come in.

Well, Andrew Fitton certainly likes a 'proper' coach so I'm going beyond the obvious with a stab at Stevie Cotterill.

I don't want Byrne & Williams taking over that's for sure, no better than the Malpas appointment in my opinion.

There's plenty of good managers out there that are unemployed at the moment. It's just a case of wait and see.

All I'd like to see in the very immediate future is that we actually back whoever is appointed. And yes Byrne and Williams while they're in caretaker charge. I think one of the things that has dismayed me most today has been the number of "Oh, no, not that tosser" type comments re Byrne being in charge for tomorrow's game. Because if we go into that game with the same kind of negativity directed at Byrne that we've had directed at Malpas for so many months we WILL lose it. Whereas if we unite behind the team AND the caretaker managers we, erm, will probably still lose it, but we'll at least have a fighting chance. And personally I'd quite like to enjoy watching my football again - you know, where we have a great atmosphere and lift the players instead of spending the whole game listening to people complaining

Scorpio never waited to see.

He didn't have to. Remember that he was the first wealthy man to wear jeans with a sports coat. He's cutting edge.

Have you ever seen a man say goodbye to his shoes?

As we speak, i'm sure the pages of the excuse books are getting a real workout.

I wonder if our resident happy-old-smiley-face-optimist has cheered up now, and will continue to smile like the joker once we get a new manager?

Ryan Giggs as player manager  Cheesy

OK, so it's not going to happen.

Wonder if they would consider going down the Player/Manager route again.
It worked out well for us in the 80's/90's.
