Feel for the bloke tbh, did his best. Wasn't up to it though and it's the best decision for STFC.

I was never happy about the appointment, but was willing to give him a chance - he's had more than that now, and while I was hopeful a couple of weeks ago that he would turn it around, seeing the performance at Histon made me decide he'd have to go sooner or later.
Nothing against the bloke though, and I wish him all the best.

He didn't have a chance from day one. Yes, yes he didn't do the business but the saddest fact is that he never had 100% fan backing. He only lost mine after Brighton.

I hope Fitton appoints someone who the fans can get behind without the ignorant few saying "WHO!?!" etc etc etc.

He had backing, just wasn't a good manager to put it simple.
When you got an ex international defender who can't manage a defence there's got to be something up there surely. He was really bland to, everything he did wasn't even the slightest bit exciting. Good decision by the board, let's hope we get a decent manager in that can do the job properly.

Nope, I disagree. He was a poor manager and it mapped out in favour of those who didn't want him. I doubt there's ever been such a negative reaction to the appointment of a Swindon manager (Andy King part II?).

What you are saying is hindsight, we didn't know how poor it was going to be. You're saying I'm wrong on the basis of what happended after his appointment.

It was the right decision from the board to pay him off but if you are trying to tell me that he had approapriate backing from the start then I'd say you were very, very wrong.

It's done now, no point dwelling and as I said before I hope the new guy gets more than the "I didn't want him appointed but I'll give him a chance" attitude which is lethargic at best.

He made it clear he didn't give a fuck what the fans thought anyway rich so in his eyes he had the backing of the board which is what he thought mattered.

!?!

Whether that's accurate or not I do not know. I'm not fighting in the defence of Malpas, as Swindon manager he had my backing until this week, he had to go.

What I'm saying is that I hope Monsieur Fitton can replace him with someone the fans will get excited by immediately but I do and always will be of the opinion that Malpas wasn't support by us adequately from the start. Everything that happened after is a different matter.

that's the way I read it at first but now I'm not so sure.  I can see his point re: King, but Maurice was always a decent enough bloke.

Looking back I think that "make or break" comment earlier in the week may have had more substance to it than we thought.  And it wasn't just aimed at the players maybe.  MM must have had an idea his time was running out.

PMSL..... My mate in Salisbury was listening to the radio and Bob Holt was on there... why they interviewed him I'll never know. And he said "Malpas didn't succeed because he wasn't given any money" TWAT
