Wholeheartedly agree with that. Those 3 cunts need to burn. The trouble is it wouldn't happen to them because they're not even charged with murder. Yet another disgrace in this fucking horrible story.

Not sure if anyone is watching PMQ's at the moment but a rather angry Cameroon is taking Brown to task over the failures in this sad case. For those who don't often watch PMQs, Brown is notorious for never giving a straight answer (set up reviews, statistics etc etc) and Cameroon is asking a simple and perfectly reasonable and valid question but not getting an answer.

As yet, I have not read the details behind this case, but like Paul I heard the head of Haringey Social Services on Five Live last night defending the social workers involved to the hilt. The failure to recognise a systematic breakdown of procedure that ultimately led to the death of this child is just beyond belief, especially in light of the Victoria Climibe case.

I do not envy the work of Social Workers. Not one bit. The desperately try their best to leave abused and neglected with their birth families if at all possible, and care orders are only given in circumstances where its in the best interests of the child. And that last bit is the most important. The system isn't perfect, and unfortunately never will be; human nature will see to that.

Social workers are humans too. They have a thankless and very difficult job. They make mistakes. Clearly in this case there is a catalogue of failures that need to be thoroughly investigated, but don't tar them all with the same brush.

This is something that makes my blood boil ime afraid,i was braught up with foster parents for 11 years who were evil,my sister has never really recovered from the abuse she recieved,after finaly breaking from the shackles of this ordeal we were put into a home in Swindon,untill i was 16.
Now let me say from the start ive moved on in my life though i do find it hard to believe that the 6 social workers i had in those 11 years failed to heed the warnings of 3 teachers,the headmaster and countless neighbours.
There is no excuse for that poor childs death...the people in charge should be sacked,if it was me i would resign anyway,could you have that on you conscience while working.
While in the council home i saw kids constantly who were abused while the social workers sat back and did nothing....is it there fault?..in my view yes,they are paid extremly well and are trained to the hilt,in my opinion in places like Harringey they are shit scared...its happened twice in 8 years.
My solution is to get people who arnt scared of getting there hands dirty,and use people like myself to see the warning signs..IMO you cant be trained to do a job like that,they should get people who are more hands on...in my case it took 11 years and what did it take to sort things,well my foster dad beat my sis once too often and i took it upon myself to sort it out...the sad thing is nothing has changed....in this poor childs case the 3 responsible should be executed......oh and with ref to PUMBAA,60 warnings isnt a catalogue of errors its just lazyness and cowardice.

I don't think anyone was - certainly I wouldn't want to do what must be a very harrowing job as a social worker and I have the greatest of respect for the majority who do that job well under as you say trying circumstances. But in this case clearly there has been a series of massive failures which has resulted in SS allowing a child to be tortured to death. That may be due to negligence on the part of individual case workers, or middle management overruling individual case workers due to some fuckwit policy or targets or whatever. But like the "never again" Climbie case, this is more than just a "try and do better next time" mistake of the kind anyone can make, it's a systemic sustained failure over a period of many months. Haringey SS are collectively guilty of negligence on a quite horrific scale - they should be prosecuted as a corporate entity and individuals involved investigated by the police with a view to prosecutions for criminal negligence. Not sent warning letters and then allowed to blithely state they've done their very best and nothing more could have been done.

Yes, and they're being punished. But the people that we as a nation charge with ensuring that children are protected (from their own parents if necessary) stood by and allowed a 17-month old child to be tortured to death over a period of months. Call me old-fashioned but I think that's more than a bad day at the office and those responsible should be severely punished. With jail time if there's evidence of criminal negligence
